Aboriginal Water Colours

'Walking Together Across Ancient Earth' is a collection of watercolour paintings from Hermannsburg Central Australia.

Albert Namatajira the renowned Aboriginal artist became the most famous desert watercolourist of his time.

He inspired many of his family and fellow countrymen to paint in the subtle yet powerful colours of the Australian Western Desert.

His nephew Wenten Rubuntja was a child at that time and spent many hours watching and learning from his famous uncle as he created the stories of sacred sites, waterholes and mountain ranges in a new exciting medium.

Hermannsburg watercolours are colourful, bold and in some cases almost animated.Aboriginal water colour artists in the 1960's and 70's were originally recognised only as souvenir painters their art was collected mainly by holiday makers to Alice Springs in Central Australia.Today many of these works are collectors items and only accessable in National Gallery and Museum collections in Australia and worldwide. Mainly due to the fact that the original artists have passed on and the new generation is no longer interested in this form of painting.

The collection that is now offered for sale was sourced directly from the artists by 'Painted director at her gallery in Alice Springs Central Australia over a 20 year period. Enquiries regarding the works on displayare welcome
