Irakanji / Kalkadoon Far Nth Qld Mundejah ( MUN ñ DE ñ JAH ) is a member of the Irakanji Tribe. Her father was born and raised in Cloncurry. Her mother is of the Kalkadoon people she was born at Yarrabah near Cairns in Far North Qld.

Mundejah has found herself taken on many exciting and powerful journeys during the stories that her parents and grandmother gave her. She describes her feelings as an artist by saying ìI feel so proud and honoured because it is part of my culture and part of meî
Her stories revolve around the food sources and events that are moving and of great importance. These stories relate to the lives of Mundejahs loved ones and the many legends that have been handed down by her ancestors over thousands of years of stories and cultural activities.

Mundejah acknowledges them for the knowledge and wisdom they have passed down to her. She dedicates her work to her husband and four sons who have given her the inspiration to paint.

Mundejah is married to a man of the Jirrbalngaan tribe also an artist and a fully initiated man of his people. Mundejah and her family successfully combine the traditions of their people with todays modern lifestyle.

Ancient Earths director is proud to have been connected with Mundejah her art and her family for 15 years. Mundejahs work is found in many international and interstate private collections. Enquiries regarding her future works are welcome.
